Cool The 'Robin Hood' effect that governs social equality

Evening out the distribution of wealth...

Thursday 12th April, 2007 : Society is so determined to "even out" the wealth of the rich, that the poorest of the poor don't mind giving up their paltry earnings if it means a reduction in the coffers of the well off, even if they themselves don't stand to gain anything, a new study has found.

Quote:
The study, by researchers at the University of California in San Diego led by James Fowler, was based on the results of a series of laboratory games. As a part of the study, 120 student volunteers were asked to take part in the experiment, with each student playing a game on a computer with various anonymous participants.

The "rich" players were those who were assigned the most 'money' tokens in one particular group, and the "poor" players were the ones who had the least. Along with indicating how much money they had, the computer screen also displayed the amounts held by three other players.

As a part of the experiment, the volunteers were told that each token they kept would contribute 0.05 dollars towards the money they would be left with at the end of the game. This meant that a volunteer who decided to keep 20 tokens in a round would have a dollar left for himself at the end. The volunteers were then asked to indicate what they wanted to do with their tokens - keep them, or use their tokens to increase or reduce the sums of the other three players.

I don't know about that, I consider myself greedy when It comes to money. And I'm pretty sure a lot more are just like me. I mean I'm not an ******* I will give my friends some money if they need it but when it comes to a stanger they can go fly a kite.

I Have to get more money then I need, and spend more money on stuff I do not need.

It may be romantic, but it'll get ya killed...

Police Slay Top Indian Bandit
Jul. 22, 2007 Indian Police Kill Robin Hood-Styled Bandit After 30 Years On The Run
Quote:
Indian police killed one of the country's most notorious bandits Sunday _ a man who ruled the ravines and forests of central India through a mixture of fear and love for three decades, with many hailing him as a modern-day Robin Hood. Shiv Kumar, also known by the alias Dadua, led one of the few remaining bands of outlaws that have roamed central India for centuries, their exploits romanticized in Bollywood movies.

Kumar, thought to be in his 60s, was wanted in more than 200 cases of kidnapping, extortion and murder and had a bounty on his head of more than $12,000, a small fortune in this region. A.K. Jain, inspector general of the police special task force, said Kumar was slain after a fierce battle between police and bandits. He was identified by villagers, Jain said.

Four of his accomplices were also killed in the battle in the Chitrakoot region, about 400 miles southwest of New Delhi, Jain said. The region's deep ravines and dense forests have made it haven for "dacoits," as bandits like Kumar are known here. In recent years, however, the dacoits have been slowly disappearing, hunted by aggressive police, denounced by the villagers they once claimed to defend and rendered increasingly irrelevant as India embraces the modern world.

lol thats hilarious, I dont blame the poor for being angy many are born without much of a chance, they might lack the intelligence or social skills to succeed yet everyone is tricked into thinking they have an equal chance at riches
