![]() I've read a bit about it lately, the supposed iPod killer. This article kind of killed my hopes for it... http://www.wired.com/news/columns/0,...n_technology_4 Some background info on it.. http://www.engadget.com/2006/07/21/z...dont-yet-know/ Sure it's just one opinion, but there's a lot of sense within it. I'm going to stay hopefull though, because my Sony Network Walkman went to **** for no reason at all. |

I heard that you can share songs and the recipient of the song can play it three times before deciding to buy it or not. I think that's garbage, but I'm certainly more open to sharing than Microsoft is.

I think that it looks marginally better. If the only real difference between this and the iPod is the wi-fi, I don't know which one I'd rather have. Not that the Zune looks so bad right now, but I don't entirely trust Microsoft to make a simple, enjoyable product rather than a pain-in-the-*** product with more rules and regulations than seems reasonable. It'll either be identical to an iPod or an iPod that's like the couch your grand mother covered in plastic. If I was to get an mp3 player I'd either get an iPod because I know that they're good or a Zune just because everyone and their dog has an iPod.
Having said that, I still love my PSP more than an iPod (which I do have some personal experience with since I've been helping my mother with her new one). If the Zune is $400 like the article suggests that it may be, I'd be far, far more inclined to simply upgrade the memory stick in my PSP to a level that will allow me to store every song that I enjoy as well as more videos than I currently have. |

Sounds like it really blows. I, for one, want an mp3 player that is as much like a simple external hard drive as possible. No automatic syncing for me and I most definitely do not want to give my life's history to Microsoft in order to install the thing. The Zune appears to be a device designed to control you. Coming from Microsoft, I'm not surprised. |
